Hanging in a jewelery store window on the
Danforth. Second of three shots from my trip with
Rannie to do some night shooting in Toronto's
Greek District.
OK, how cool is this? My
photo of the iron chair at the
TD Centre was voted a
noteworthy pick for the Photo Friday "Emptiness" challenge. I'm really thrilled people are digging my
shots, and grateful to everyone who voted. I was especially pleased to see that this week I'm sharing the honour with two of my
favourite entries.
Gavin's image is especially powerful when you learn its context -- it's a
Khmer Rouge detention cell.
Finally, I won a replacement body for my dead
Minolta Maxxum 7000 on eBay. I've been wanting to use my Maxxum for the longest time, but the electronics inside are kaputz. Minolta stopped making replacement parts several years ago, so there's no easy way any more for it to get fixed. Easier (and cheaper) to just replace the body entirely -- so I took advantage and upgraded. I'm getting a
Maxxum 9000 body this time -- now I just gotta keep my fingers crossed that it arrives fine and works OK. I can't wait for it to get here. I think in the mean time I'll buy some neon pants and an Ocean Pacific t-shirt to go with it. Then I can pretend to be a wedding photographer from 1987.
