Sam The Record Man / Click for Previous
I shot this a couple of weeks ago, when Rannie and I went out in to the bitter cold to take some night shots on Yonge Street.

This friendly fellow came up to us while we were taking some shots of the neon nightmare known as Sam The Record Man. I think he was a little surprised to see the two of us happily shooting away when most normal people would be running inside to get out of the cold -- he actually asked us whether our batteries would still work in the freezing weather. We chatted for a few minutes, during which time I naturally took his photograph. ;)

It was actually quite a pleasant surprise to have a stranger come up just to chat like that -- normally the only time someone will come up to you on Yonge Street is if they are either A) Crazy B) Want to sell you drugs, or C) are begging for change. It was actually kind of surreal just having a normal friendly conversation with a stranger. Kind of a sad commentary on life in the city I guess.
