Triple Blogged Bug / Click for Previous
Face-to-Face with a ladybug on a tire at the Distillery. This is quite the famous little ladybug -- seen previously here and here on the respective photoblogs of Rannie and Jay.

Now, I was originally rather hesitant to post this. But the recent Photo Friday "macro" challenge brought me back to this shot -- and although I ended up submitting a different series of shots for the theme, it still made me take a second look. So I took a peek back at Rannie and Jay's images, and I noticed something very interesting. Despite the fact that we had all shot the same thing, we still ended up with three completely unique views. Three photobloggers, three distinct interpretations.

When we go shooting, we always seem naturally gravitate towards very disparate subjects and themes. This works out great in the sense that we each come away with something unique (just as if we had worked alone), while at the same time having company to enjoy and the ability to observe and learn from each other's techniques. And at the end of the day when we finally go to post, there's normally very little crossover -- and it's always fascinating to see how each of us interpreted the experience. Best of both worlds.

But every now and again, a subject comes along that you just can't resist. Something so cool, that we all just can't help but literally shoot the shit out of it.

So I figured I'd finally throw my version in to the mix -- partly as an examination of the differences in our styles, but mostly because I just think the shot is pretty sweet. ;) But it's still very cool to see that even on the rare occasions when we do end up shooting the same subjects, we each end up taking away something personal from it.

And if you're still with me after all this rambling, don't forget to check out their perspectives here and here.

ISO 100, Spot Metering, 16mm focal length (77mm equiv, macro). On-camera high saturation, hard sharpness.
