My 7D is playing silly beggars again. If I turn the camera on while it is vertical, the shutter won't fire. If it's horizontal then everything starts up fine. Gotta be a loose connection in there somewhere. Oh well, back to Minolta she goes I guess. I guess Minolta (sorry, "Konica Minolta") has actually forgotten a few tricks since building my trusty Hi-Matic in 1967. Old 7S still works like a champ while 7D is down for the count! Go figure.
I've used the
cheapo carbon-fiber tripod some more, and it's still holding up great. All of the shots I've developed from the super speed graphic came out sharp, crisp and properly composed. I think the weakest links in the chain may be the plastic release levers on the legs. Time will tell I suppose. It does have a one year warranty though, so I expect most potential issues would become fairly apparent over that kind of time period. I'm still hoping to write a full review when I've got the time, but in the interim those interested can check out some other guy's
detailed first impressions of the older three section model.
